Gut Feeling Reflection

The article of 'Gut Feeling' in the May issue of reader's digest interested and touched me the most.It centers about colon cancer, and how serious it affects the body, what are the chances of cure, but most importantly, the will to survice in cancer patients. As in lynn's case, she found out what she could about colon cancer to get an overrall insight of her situation of colon cancer, and went to a hospital in New York immediately after having a strong sharp pain in her gut. But her will to live, and to be a normal person again leading a normal life, pulled her through her otherwise mental torture of waiting to die. When she started chemotheraphy, she met many friendly and tolerant patients there, which convinced her finally that cancer is has no place in fear, and finally after many treatments, she was finally cured of not just her cancer, but also the fear of death, and she finally got what she wanted; to be normal again.

I am personally intrigued by this article as my second aunt recently was diagnosied with colon cancer. It was also the very sharp pain in her gut that forced her to take a trip to a hospital. Everyone in my family were very worried, and the doctor said that she had to go for surgery to remove the tumour inside her colon; or large intestine. But sheer determination and a fearlessness of death pulled her through, and she recovered from her cancer. At first, she had a critical fever which made her in constant peril again, but with love from her family, as in Lynn's case too, she finally recovered from it. Although she is still a little weak after just a few weeks of recovery, the worse of it has lifted. what I want to get through is that the fear of death may eventually kill you. Embrace your condition, but also do not ignore your body's warning signs. The earlier the treatment is, the higher chance of cure.
